Blackbird page 7

Blackbird page 7 by ric gustafson

So where did Paul McCartney write ' Blackbird?'. Was it his Scottish farm?. Was it in Feb 1968 while he was in India?. Was it in Paul's stepmother's garden?. That meditation retreat in India revitalized the band after the death of their manager Brian Epstein. As far as recording the song, it was done in Abbey Road Studio 2 on 6-11-1968. John Lennon did accompaniment on piano and acoustic guitar. George Martin suggested a different ending. Harrison and Starr were not there. McCartney wanted some brass on the song. Before it was recorded, McCartney rehearsed the song many times.
The Beatles loved girl groups from the early 60's. These groups included the Shirelles, Martha and the Vandellas. ' She Loves You' and ' From Me To You' were about romance and relationships.
' Blackbird' is still played by McCartney during concerts. The legacy and history of this song is richer and more complicated than first imagined. Is it a song about the cause of civil rights?. Black people have always had songs of hope featuring flight.
Everyone has their own idea of the meaning of this song. Paul McCartney just wanted this song to heal.

The End.
