7 churches: Ephesus by ric Gustafson
Ephesus was an urban center in a cosmopolitan city. The Apostle Paul spent three years here and the church flourished at that time. After Paul left, possibly Timothy or even John may have become it's pastor. The Ephesian congregation was dynamic. This fledging church persevered through times of trouble. Even with success, this church had problems.
According to Revelation 2:4, this growing church lost it's love for Jesus. This young church stopped loving Jesus and each other. In Revelation 2:5, Jesus warns this church in a letter to change it's ways or face ruin. It did not listen. It declined as a city. It became uninhabited. The church started out strong but lost it's love for Jesus.
