God's promises: worthy of our confidence

God's promises: worthy of our confidence by ric gustafson

When Jesus becomes our Savior, we need to give thanks. We need to think about what we have been saved from. We also need to think about what we have been saved for. We were saved from eternal separation from God. We were saved for eternity with God. We were saved in order to serve God and enjoy him forever. We need to ask God how we can serve him. How can we serve God's people. We will be showered with blessings from God.

It was in the autumn of 1930 that Josef Mengele started studying at the University of Munich. Munich in 1930 was a bustling city filled with culture. Mengele, who enjoyed opera and classical music, loved every minute of it. He enjoyed the shops, restaurants and museums the city offered.
That year of 1930, Adolf Hitler had some radical ideas. Millions came to his rallies. One of his favorite topics to rant about was racial purity. Hitler envisioned a country of blond, blue eyed men and women. He ranted about racial hygiene. He also called for the elimination of all inferior races including the Jews.
The University of Munich professors became influenced by these racist theories. Mengele chose the field of anthropology and genetics. Mengele studied that biology was destiny. He wanted to become a racial doctor. Mengele became interested in eugenics. He studied the social Darwinists.
In 1935, Mengele was preparing to graduate. The Nazis began a racial program called the Nuremberg Laws. This criteria was to determine who was a true German and who was not. Mengele graduated and applied to the University of Frankfurt. He wanted to work with Professor Otmar von Verschuer.

Josef Mengele was born on March 16 1911. He was born in Gunzburg on the banks of the Danube. Walburga Mengele's parents gave Karl Josef's father money to start a new business. Karl patented farming tools. During WW 1, Josef's parents business made a huge profit. Their business turned out army vehicles and other weapons. By the end of the war, the Mengele plant was one of the largest in Gunzburg. Josef, his brothers and parents were devout Catholic. Josef's mother Wally Mengele suffered from a weight problem. She was a major figure in young Josef's life. Josef's father was consumed by the factory and nothing else. Josef was closer to his mother than his father. Josef whose nickname was Beppo was popular and charming.
As he grew up, Josef and his friends became involved in the Greater Germany Youth Movement. He wanted to get away from his family's farm equipment factory. In 1930, Beppo left Gunzburg to attend the University of Munich. His short term goal was to study anthropology and genetics. His long term goal was to become a doctor.

Some of the guards were yelling for twins. Somebody named Dr Mengele was making the selections. He made fast decisions. He pointed to the left or right. Moshe's father told the guards he had a pair of twins. Moshe and his twin Tibi joined other twins. They never saw their parents or brothers again.

" Professor Humboldt". She smiled at Bryson. " This is Bryson". She smiled again. " He's helping me make deliveries today".
He shook Bryson's hand.
She handed the professor an envelope. " Here is your fixed watch".
Bryson noticed a book on the professor's desk. " I see you like Archimedes".
" Yes, I studied him in school". His voice paused. " He was a Greek philosopher".
" Yes, he was". He picked up the book. " He used the Greek numbering system to study infinity".
Jessica glanced at her watch. " Professor, it looks like we need to leave".
He shook Bryson's hand again. " Nice to meet you Bryson".
She opened the door to walk out.
" Bryson, I learned something very important about time from Archimedes".
" And what is that?".
He held up his fixed watch. " There is no time in heaven".
The two walked out.

Some foreign astrologers named Magi spot a star in the sky. They follow the star to Jerusalem where they inquire about the child to King Herod. He tells them to go but report back when they have seen the child. They honor Jesus with gifts of gold, incense and myrrh. After a warning not to go back to Herod, they return home a different way. Jesus: who is Jesus?

Jesus: who is Jesus? by ric gustafson

Each of the four Gospel writers answered that question in their own way. Matthew was a former tax collector. His writing focused on Jesus as king and messiah. He traced Jesus's legal bloodline. Mark wrote the shortest and most action packed Gospel. He wrote Jesus as a suffering servant. Luke was a Gentile physician who did not know Jesus personally. For his writing, Luke investigated and interviewed people who spent time with Jesus. Luke focuses on Jesus's parables, teachings and miracles. John was a former fisherman and a part of Jesus's inner circle. He completed his writing 30 years after the other three. He focused on miracles showing that Jesus was God's Son. Praise God.
