The Image of God is the very image of God the Father. II Corinthians 4 says the glory of Christ who is the image of God. The Image of God is the invisible God the firstborn of all creation. The Image of God became flesh and blood. When we look to the Image of God, we see what God the Father is truly like.

We were created in the Image of God. We do not reveal him perfectly. The Image of God restores and redeems. He renews humanity. The Image of God reveals the heart of God the Father.

So who is the Image of God?. It is Jesus Christ whom I love.

In Jan 1956, a musical event changed popular music in England. A song titled ' Rock Island Line' hit the NME chart. The group was the Lonnie Donegan Skiffle Group. The song introduced a new sound. It had rudimentary home made guitar music. The music had actually started at least 30 years earlier in 1920's black America. Both John and George bought the record.

Richy Starkey tried a new job. The job was as a messenger boy on the British Railways. Richy hated the job. Frustrated, he joined a Liverpool gang. They were called the Teddy Boys. They were hungry for trouble. They wore colorful drape jackets, drain pipe trousers and crepe sole shoes.

All four lads were influenced by Elvis Presley and a black performer named Little Richard.

Paul McCartney's family moved to 20 Forthlin Road in southern Liverpool.

At this time, all four Liverpool lads began having raging hormones. In Speke, Paul McCartney was being noticed by several girls. The first was Sheila Prytherch. She lived at Number 8 Ardwick Road. Paul's father Jim gave Paul a second hand trumpet. He learned it quickly. His attachment to the instrument faded quickly. 

George Harrison began to like cars and car racing. George's father bought a 1933 Austin Saloon. It had running boards, a luggage rack and wire wheels.

Toward the end of 1955, Richy Starkey got out of the hospital. In November of 1955, a song called ' Rock Around the Clock' came out. The rock and roll song raced up the chart to number 1. Richy and Paul loved the song.

A country western singer from Florida had two big hits in England in 1955. His name was Slim Whitman. The songs were ' Indian Love Call' and ' Rose Marie'. The lads also started listening to the music of a singer songwriter from New Orleans. His name was Fats Domino.

I Am is translated for God. The term is Yahweh. Yahweh reflects God's eternal existence. It shows his authority and that he is the source of all things. According to John 8, before Abraham was even born I Am.

I Am reveals his divinity and true identity. I Am never changes. I Am is always present and accessible. I Am can take away our fears, weaknesses and doubts. I Am has power and is sovereign. I Am is powerful, present, never changing, faithful and generous.

So who is the I Am?. It is Jesus Christ whom I love.

He is the one who conquered sin and death by dying on a cross. He had power of his resurrection life. He was raised up as a deliverer. He came from the line of King David. 

The Horn of Salvation is the power of his sacrifice that sets the captive free. He removes shame, fear and death. Because of the Horn of Salvation, we are the victorious ones. Saved and delivered.

There is more than we can see. Mysteries too great for us to know. There is one who sees everything clearly. In Mark 1, there was a man possessed by an impure spirit. He recognized the Holy One of God. He said I know who you are.

The unseen heavenly realm recognizes the Holy One of God. He is the holiness of God the Father. He has the power and authority to silence tormentors. Even when they speak the truth. Even the demons believe and tremble in his presence.

The Holy Child's divine origin is what made him holy. He was born God and man. According to Luke 1, the baby will be holy. He was holy from the start. The identity of the Holy Child is rooted in the heart of God the Father. 

The Holy Child was set apart from birth. Certain people recognized the Holy Child from the beginning. There were shepherds and wise men. There was Simeon and Anna. They knew the Holy Child was special.

Oberstdorf page 2

Oberstdorf lies in Bavaria in a region called the Allgau. The area is known for the beauty of it's mountains. It is known for the toughness of it's people. The village is also the most southern village in Germany. Once you reach the village, the road ends. Then there is only footpaths south across the mountains.

Until tourism came to the village at the end of the 19th century, the village survived on cheese production, subsistence farming and iron ore. The village has always cared deeply about it's history.

The Oberstdorf saga starts at the end of the First World War. The foundation of Germany had been shaken. The Treaty of Versailles caused massive hyperinflation. During the 1920's, the village of Oberstdorf largely ignored Adolf Hitler and his new party. Things changed in 1930 during the election. More villagers voted for Hitler than against him. The villagers wanted a strong government. 

In 1932, the villagers did not like their first Nazi mayor. No matter how hard they tried, the village of Oberstdorf could not escape the war that was coming.

The Heir of all things was present at the beginning of all things. The story does not end there. Everything in heaven and on earth belong to the Heir of all things. Hebrews 1 talks about the Heir of all things. 

The Heir of all things is generous, kind and invites us to know him. In the presence of the Heir of all things is peace, hope, faith and love. There is freedom from fear, and healing for our diseases.

On July 13 1862, President Abraham Lincoln was in a horse drawn carriage. Joining Lincoln at Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown was Navy Secretary Gideon Welles, Secretary of State William Seward and Seward's daughter in law Anna Seward. They were there for the burial of the Secretary of War's infant son. Lincoln was sad. Only months earlier, he had to bury his own son Willie at the same cemetery. Lincoln's 11 year old son died from typhoid fever. Willie was the favorite of both Abraham and Mary. When Willie died, Mary was inconsolable. She never recovered from his death. 

For President Lincoln, he did not have much time to grieve. There was torrential rain at Willie's funeral. With the President at the funeral were Gideon Welles. He was a journalist who switched parties. Like Lincoln, he had a disdain for slavery. He was Lincoln's Navy Secretary. Also with Lincoln was Secretary of State William Seward. Seward was also Lincoln's chief diplomat.

The state of the war was affecting all three men.

We have a Great High Priest. Ephesians 1 says and made him head over all things to the church. The Head of the Church cannot be put on a pedestal. No one can take his place. He is head over all things. It was in the early church. It is now also.

The Head of the Church has all power, glory and honor. The Head of the Church's Word is the last word. We need to love the Head of the Church.

According to Hebrews 4, we have a great high priest. The role of the high priest in the Old Testament was to stand between God and the people. He would offer sacrifices on the people's behalf. He would also intercede for them before God. The great high priest would be the administrator of the temple, God's house. The great high priest is the primary spiritual leader. 

The Great High Priest stands before God the Father interceding on our behalf. The Great High Priest sacrifices through his body and his blood. Through him, our sins are covered.

Johnny traveled west to LA pulling a U-Haul. His wife Jody came later with baby Chris. When Johnny got to LA, he stayed with his friend Bill Brennan. Brennan was the program manager at KNXT-TV. The station was a CBS affiliate. Brennan gave Johnny a job at the station for $115 a week. Brennan promised to help Johnny develop something.

Johnny rented  an apartment in the San Fernando Valley. Johnny started with the worst hours and the most menial chores. In Omaha, Johnny was a celebrity. In LA, Johnny felt like a nobody. When Johnny's second son Rick was born in 1952, Jody was already being shunted by Johnny.

By September 1952, Johnny gave himself one year to make it in LA. That year was almost over.

On Oct 4 1952, Johnny's big break came.

One afternoon, JFK Jr was eating lunch at the Stanhope Hotel Cafe M. Joining JFK Jr was his wife Carolyn and her sister Lauren. On a lunch of sea bass and salmon, the trio talked about an upcoming Kennedy wedding at Hyannis Port. This was the wedding of one of JFK Jr's cousins. His name was Rory Kennedy. JFK Jr spent the lunch telling the Bessete sisters about a new plane he had acquired. It was a Piper Saratoga. He was trying his hardest to convince the sisters to fly with him the following weekend. His goal was to fly to Cape Cod, then Martha's Vineyard and then to Hyannis Port. 

Carolyn was scared. She did not want her husband to fly period. She had good reason to be scared. The family had a terrible history with flying. JFK JR's Uncle Joseph P Kennedy died in WW2 when his bomber exploded. JFK Jr's Aunt Kathleen Kennedy Hartington died in a plane crash. So Carolyn was scared. Carolyn pleaded with JFK Jr not to fly. It was to no avail.

To JFK Jr, flying was an escape. He liked to live on the edge.

The Good Shepherd stands guard over his sheep. He leads his sheep to lush fields and rivers of peace. The sheep are aware of the Good Shepherds voice. We know where he is. The Good Shepherd faithfully takes care of us.

March 5 1933 was an important day in the life of the Bavarian village of Oberstdorf. The mayor of the village was going to tell the people of the village about the results of the days federal election. Village residents and visitors from Northern Germany were waiting patiently for the results.

Five weeks earlier on Jan 30, Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Germany's new Chancellor. The political landscape was already changing. The village quickly found out that the majority had voted for Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. 

At the center of the devoutly Catholic village was St John the Baptist Church. After 8:00 pm, the marketplace was filling up with noisy brownshirts, villagers and the new National Socialist leader. 

Those who voted for the NSDAP and Hitler wondered about the future.

John F Kennedy Jr had started a political magazine in 1995. It was called ' George'. It was backed by a French publishing conglomerate. Because of JFK Jr's charisma and celebrity status, the magazine started out as gangbusters. By the summer of 1999, the magazine had taken a huge decline in revenue. Hachette Filipacchi had lost tens of millions of dollars.

JFK Jr's flight instructor flew him to Canada to talk to potential investors for his magazine. JFK Jr hated the fact that his broken ankle was keeping him from something he enjoyed doing. That was flying.

JFK Jr was always asked about his political ambitions. At 38, JFK Jr was more interested in being a Govenor not a Senator.

Some people can follow the law of Moses and miss out on the Glory of the Lord. Instead of being captivated by the Glory of the Lord's mercy, they were offended. Some people were offended by the Glory of the Lord's large following. The Glory of the Lord was a healer, a teacher and a man of peace.

The Forerunner has become a model for us to follow. We live by faith and obedience. The Forerunner shows us how to have faith, persistence, faith and holiness.

On Aug 29 1949, WOW TV went on the air. Station affliates and dignitaries were there. The crew had to quickly learn about the cameras. Sales staff had to learn advertising. Johnny was picked to host a program each weekday at noon. Johnny named the show ' Squirrel's Nest'. The show was only 15 minutes long. Sometimes Johnny had trouble filling the time. Johnny's low voltage personality was perfect for TV. Soon, he was in living rooms all over Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.

In order to make it, Johnny knew he had to go to New York or LA. He chose LA. He moved the family there in the summer of 1951. A friend Bill Brennan got Johnny a job at KNXT-TV. It was a CBS affiliate.

A young man was sitting in a box seat near the New York Yankees dugout. He was sitting in the box with three friends. They were great seats because he knew Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. He had on a white dress shirt rolled up at the sleeves. At one point during the game, he knew a TV crew was filming him.

At the end of the game, he got up to leave. He picked up two crutches. He winced because of the pain. Six weeks prior, he had broken his left ankle flying a powered parachute around Martha's Vineyard. The cast had just come off. He winced every time weight was put on his injured leg. The injured leg was the least of the young man's troubles. 

The young man was John F Kennedy Jr.

After a year in New Orleans, Mother came back to Hope to live with me. Mother met a man named Roger Clinton. Mother told me he was fun, paid attention to her and was generous. Roger was nice to my grandparents. Roger and Mother married in June 1950. I began calling Roger daddy. At the same time, I began calling myself Billy.

I started kindergarten when we began living at our new home on 13th Street in Hope. For first grade, I went to Brookwood School. My teacher was Mary Wilson. For 2nd grade, I attended St John's Catholic School in downtown Hope. My teacher was Sister Mary Amata McGee. I loved to read and compete in spelling contests. In grade school, I talked a lot.

After a year or two, Daddy moved us to Hot Springs Arkansas. It was a big house with 2 stories and five bedrooms. To me, Hot Springs was a new city, new neighborhood, new school, new friends and a new church. I lived in that house until I was 15.

When we enter the presence of God, there is a knowing of his divine power. According to Revelation 1, don't be afraid I am the First and the Last. We should not fear his glory. We should worship and give thanks. The First and the Last says do not worry. His peace is always with us.

After Stephen's death, Saul was given a new task. He became a chief agent for the Jewish authorities. He became the High Priest's representative. Saul's task was to bring in men and women who followed that dead carpenter.

Early church leaders of the Way fled or were in hiding. Saul brought them in. They were dragged in front of a formal inquiry. Saul demanded that they curse this dead carpenter named Jesus. 

People who were captured by Saul told him that Jesus was their Savior and their Lord. Saul found out that many followers of this dead carpenter had escaped to Damascus in Syria. Saul asked permission to go there and bring back as many prisoners as he could. Saul was granted permission.

Saul decided to leave in the spring for Damascus.

Life was breathed into us from the beginning. God created us in our mother's womb. We were knitted together by his design. I John 1 says and proclaim to you the eternal life. There was no mistake in God's design. God's love is always with us.

God the Creator is the giver of all life. God offers us his Eternal Life. God gives us the kingdom of peace. Through the Eternal Life, God gives us life. God wants us to know him. God gives us his gracious mercy and his love. God lifts us, guides us and leads us. We are never without the Eternal Life.

At Eltham, Eric and Rob Liddell competed against each other. Both were on the same rugby team. In the final races of the year, Eric beat his brother in the 100 yard dash. Then Rob beat his brother in the steeplechase, high jump and the hurdles. Then Eric beat his brother in the 440 yard race and the long jump. 

In 1918, 16 year old Eric Liddell became Eltham's best overall athlete. Later in 1918, Eric's brother Rob enrolled at the Edinburgh University medical college. After his brother left, Eric became Eltham's captain of the cricket and the rugby teams.

At Eltham, Eric joined a bible study group. He was confirmed in the Scottish Congregational Church. Eric joined the London Missionary Society.

Eric's faith in God and the beginning of his Christian walk started thriving.

Mary walked toward some large stone jars. Reluctantly, Jesus followed behind her. Jesus noticed that the crowd was tired, hungry and thirsty. Jesus did not want anyone to be embarassed, disappointed or hurt.

When Mary stopped at the jars, several servants were standing beside them.

Mary pointed at her son. " Do whatever he tells you".

Jesus covered his face. He prayed in silence. Then he opened his eyes. He smiled. " Go to the cistern". Jesus smiled. " Fill the jars".

Jesus and Mary waited as the servants filled the jars to the brim. 

" Now draw the wine from the jars". Jesus grinned. " Take it to the steward to be tested". Jesus smiled again. " Then serve it to the guests".

The servants replenished the pitchers, mugs and glasses.

The guests began to drink. 

" Why did you make us think you were running out of wine?". Lydia's father smiled. He took another sip from his mug. " You have saved the best until the last".

The Deliverer helps us from the big things and from the stumbling blocks of life. He delivers us from danger, despair and temptation. He is our present and able Deliverer.

21 year old Eric Liddell lined up on the cinder track. The runner from Scotland had a great position. It was one spot to the right of the most inside lane. Liddell's nickname was the ' Flying Scotsman'. Every runner wanted Liddell's inside position. That runner ran a shorter distance and would usually win the race.

This particular race was very important to Liddell. To win this race meant a spot on Great Britain's Olympic team. It also meant he had a chance to run in Paris the following summer.

Liddell knew all the runners. They were runners from England, Ireland and Scotland. The one running next to him was a friend of Liddell's. His name was JJ Gillies. Earlier in the day, Liddell had won the 100 and 200 yard races. No one expected him to win 3 races in one day. But he did. He won the 400 yard race. When Liddell ran, he ran for God.

So what is a dayspring?. It is the rising sun on a day that will never set. The Dayspring is our eternal hope. Just as the dawn brings hope from the darkness of night. The Dayspring brings wisdom and clarity. 

The Dayspring brings living hope. Instead of sin, sorrow and death, the Dayspring offers us peace with God. He brings us joy and resurrection life. He brings us life into our dark hearts. The Dayspring brings us a new beginning, makes wrong things right, liberates the oppressed and heals the sick. 

So who is the Dayspring?. It is Jesus Christ whom I love.
