On October 1 1949, Johnny Carson married Jody Wolcott. They got married at an Episcopal church in North Platte Nebraska. 150 guests were invited. Jody wore a wedding dress of ice blue satin. Johnny's parents were in attendance. Johnny's brother served as best man. The reception was held at the Pawnee Hotel in North Platte.
Before Johnny and Jody got married, Johnny started at WOW in Omaha Nebraska. WOW was the most important radio station in Nebraska. Starting Aug 1 1949, Johnny started a radio show. It was called ' The Johnny Carson Show'. The show was heard from 8:15 am till 9:00 am. During that time, Johnny played records, read the news, did the weather and sports.
WOW was affiliated with NBC. Johnny was paid enough per week for an apartment and to marry Jody.
WOW was waiting for a new medium to start. It was called television.
